Machine Lockouts help minimize safety hazards, but only when used

by admin on October 3, 2007

Think of machine lockouts the way you’d think of the safety on a gun. When activated, these keep both the machine and the firearms from activating. In a gun, it keeps the pistol from firing. In a machine, it keeps the machine from activating it’s motion and potentially harming anyone who is standing near.

Lockouts only work when people use them. When done with a machine, remember to lock it out. We have the SD101 Decal to remind us to “Lock It Out For Safety”. These can be used on or near any machine with a lockout device. You can couple these decals with our Safety Lockout Checklist or Safety Inspection Charts for optimal lockout procedures with accountability amongst your employees.
