You remember how you were always told to never run with scissors? or never run in the house? or never run in a crowded room?
Your work place is no difference. By running, you are putting yourself and others at serious risk. Since you have less time to react at running speeds, any safety hazards are multiplied. Things that you might have seen at walking speeds (such as a book on the door or a nail or screw on the floor, or a spill) may be overlooked as you are in too much of a hurry.
So, slow down at work and in crowds. Safety begins with taking in your surroundings and acting appropriately. We have developed a banner to remind us all to walk, not run, to our next assignment.![]()
