Don’t let your life go up in smoke! Smoke Alarms Save Lives.

by admin on November 2, 2007

I can’t count the amount of people I know who will “borrow” batteries from their smoke alarms to power a remote control. I also can’t count all of the people I know who can’t tell you where the smoke alarms are in their homes, or businesses. Then there’s a whole group of people who know where they are but don’t change the batteries in them when they change their clocks for daylight savings time. We, as a public, have dysfunctional priorities.

Every 16 seconds, a fire department responds to a fire somewhere in the United States. Most of these fires are acts of carelessness or faulty wiring, often causing fires to happen at night or at the most unexpected times.

Put fresh batteries in your smoke alarms. Know your exit strategy. Have a plan for everyone in your group to get out and safe. Fire safety is everyone’s business.

We’ve developed a poster to remind everyone of the importance of smoke alarms in both our businesses and our homes.
